Takami wasn't one for skating, either. Mainly it was because he didn't want to risk falling and messing his leg up even more than it already was. But childhood injuries aside, he rather enjoyed watching it.

He walked up to the railing, wearing a black jacket with a white scarf wrapped around his neck, and a pair of earmuffs. This ship was certainly something, snowing inside without any definite or noticeable origin of where it was coming from. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a girl leaning against the railing, looking rather... bored? No, more like... a little confused. Perhaps she was new here.

"Not the skating type, I assume?" he asked, starting a conversation. It was nice to talk to a fresh face.

Chin still in her hand, Haruhi looks out from the corner of her eye to the man coming up next to her. He was a bit more bundled than her and now she began wondering if she should have brought her scarf too.
Not that she had expected snow though.

A pleasant smile touches her face, "I never learned how." It never seemed practical when Haruhi could be doing other things with her time.
"You?" Her tone was casual, certainly not dismissive at the chance of conversation.

"Never cared to learn. I spent all my time playing football." Takami replied with a chuckle. It was pretty much the truth. But he hadn't played football since being stuck here on the ship, except for the occasional ball throw. Besides, without Sakuraba and Shin....

No. Not the time to think about them.

He had to look down quite a ways to see her, Takami observed, which was... to be expected when you were taller than the average person. Even then, she was pretty short. "Have you been on the ship long?"

It wasn't an unusual sensation for Haruhi to be looked down upon. Or to look up to someone else in the most literal of senses. Scraping 5 foot will do that to your world perspective.

Football, hm? Haruhi had no clue about it - but that wasn't shocking either.

The brunette gets a questioning look on her face. Eyes turning up, she hms. "Oh, I just got here actually. I haven't even finished putting things up." She stands up more fully from the rail, not that it helps the height thing, and directs her eyes to the sky above. "Does it usually do this kind of stuff in here?"

A completely new arrival! That was why she seemed a little out-of-place at first sight. "Well. Welcome to the ship, then," He stated in a friendly tone, guessing that she hadn't had anyone say such a thing to her yet.

Takami looked up as well, eyes watching the flakes of ice fall, some landing on his glasses. "On occasion, this deck changes like this. I think they do it to celebrate holidays, but it recently turned into a beach, if I remember correctly." Even explaining it was weird, despite the length of time that Takami had been here. "You'll learn pretty quickly that things... and people aren't exactly normal here."

The brunette gives a bigger smile to the greeting, casting her gaze briefly to the tall man, "Ah, thank you."

She looks back skyward, bringing a hand up to scratch in vague perplexity at the back of her head. Well, the flakes felt real enough touching down on her face.
"Yeah, I'm getting the feeling that I will." Then she shrugs in a careless manner, face settled in a friendly smile. "Who knows, it might be fun."

Who knows, it might be fun. She was so optimistic, despite being stuck in a strange place where it does things like snowing inside. Takami thought about it for a moment. He knew he hadn't done anything in a very long time that he could actually consider 'fun'. Maybe he just wasn't looking at it the right way.

"...Yeah," he agreed, a smaller, yet truer smile showing on his face. "It just might be."

Takami moved to wipe the drops of water that were left from the snow off of the lenses of his glasses with his sleeve. "...Oh, excuse me." The quarterback turned to her, offering a hand in greeting. "Hi, I'm Takami Ichirou. It's nice to meet you."

Welcome to Haruhi, a creature of quick adaptation and taking things in stride. Sure, the snow was way off the shores of the island of normal but she didn't have much say in it.

Just have to make the best of it as she can. That was the first decision she hit when she saw her room.

Haruhi accepts the hand with a firm one of her own, the other resting on the railing around the rink, "It's nice to meet you, Ichirou-san. I'm Haruhi Fujioka." She offers another full grin, "I appreciate the welcome. It's nice to see a friendly face around here." She hadn't been exactly sure what she'd find in this place.

"Takami" looks too much like "Tamaki", amirite? XD

Any other time, Takami might have corrected Haruhi when she called him by his first name accidentally. But he didn't bother to. It had been so long since he had talked with someone that wasn't from home. And she seemed like she could make for good conversation later on, so what did it matter?

"No problem. Most people around here are friendly, whether they look it or not." Yes, the people were fine. It was this bizarre nature of the ship that was weird. Takami was both thankful and jealous of the fact that Haruhi didn't have to go through that last month of hell. But she didn't need to know about that. "You might find somebody you know, eventually. A few people that I know from home are here."

Oops :x Errr, sorry. XD Wait, I mean... yeah, that's my excuse.

The last sentence causes the brunette to raise her eyebrows a little. A few people from home?
She wasn't sure she could take the thought. Being trapped on a boat, albeit with some distance to get away, wasn't really where she wanted to be with Tamaki. Or Kyouya-senpai. .... Or the twins.
"Really? I bet you were glad to see them." Her voice is sincere but she vaguely feels like palming at her face.

Please let it be Mori-senpai. Or Huni-senpai.

Good enough for me! XD <3

Takami chuckled, catching on to the slightly irked expression that Haruhi gave. He was an observer, a person who used data and intelligence as his forte-- he caught little things like that. And judging by that face, there were clearly some people Haruhi didn't want to see arrive here.

"Just because I know them doesn't mean that I like or socialize with all of them." Takami couldn't blame her. He'd sooner pick being alone than even think about hanging out with (most of) the Deimon team or any other crazy rival team.

Excuse me, I've got to go scrub the visual of Tamaki chasing Haruhi around this ship out now.

And even though he's already noticed, Haruhi is more than happy to give verbal confirmation.

She leans back against the rail, sighing out a breath that fluffs her long forelock of a bang out. "Believe me when I say I fully - and I mean fully - understand how you feel."

Haruhi didn't mind being alone that much. After all, she grew up with it while her father worked. And now it was so much easier to find peace to study when you were alone - not running from a gaggle of men who couldn't live without you in their sights.

...That almost sound like she was some sort of vixen. Just the opposite.
